The Student Advising & Counselling Department at Collège des Frères – Jerusalem plays a vital role in guiding and supporting students throughout their academic, personal, and career development. Rooted in the Lasallian mission of educating the whole person, the department provides comprehensive services tailored to meet the diverse needs of students across all academic programs, including the American Program (AP), the Tawjihi Scientific and Humanities streams, and the Hospitality stream.

Our Leadership & Team





Ms. Sylvia Amer
Head of Academic Affairs
Ms. Sylvia Amer oversees the strategic development and operation of all academic advising services at the school. She leads curriculum planning, academic program coordination, and university preparation initiatives across every stream. With extensive experience in educational leadership, Ms. Amer ensures that the department provides students with clear pathways toward success in local and international higher education systems. She also supervises the alignment of the AP Program, Tawjihi streams, and Hospitality curriculum with the needs of students, universities, and the evolving job market.
Mr. Tamer Zakkak
Social Worker & School Counselor for the secondary department
Mr. Tamer Zakkak provides personal, social, and emotional counselling for s secondary students. He supports students through individual sessions, group workshops, and family engagement, addressing well-being, mental health awareness, stress management, and social challenges. Mr. Zakkak also collaborates closely with teachers and parents to ensure that students receive a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment at school. His role extends to monitoring student welfare, facilitating interventions when needed, and promoting a culture of empathy and resilience.
Together, Ms. Amer and Mr. Zakkak form the core of a dynamic support system dedicated to helping every student succeed and flourish.

Services Across All Academic Streams
American Program (AP)
Students enrolled in the AP Program receive specialized academic advising, including:
•Guidance on AP course selection
•University alignment and admissions support
•College Board expectations and exam preparation
•Scholarship exploration and international study pathways
Tawjihi Humanities Stream
Advising includes:
•Course planning for arts, social sciences, languages, and humanities fields
•Career exploration related to cultural, social, and community-based professions
•Guidance on university major options and admission prerequisites
Tawjihi Scientific Stream
Students are supported through:
•Academic planning toward STEM-related fields
•Preparation for university admission requirements
•Study skills, exam readiness, and subject-specific support
Hospitality Stream
Students receive:
•Career counselling for tourism, hotel management, and service-industry pathways
•Practical guidance on training opportunities and professional certificates
•Support with transitions into vocational colleges and applied higher education programs






Academic & University Counselling




The department provides structured guidance for students from Grade 10 through Grade 12, including:

•One-on-one academic advising
•University and scholarship information sessions
•Career awareness workshops
•Support with applications, portfolios, personal statements, and interviews
•Coordination with universities in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and internationally


Personal & Social Counselling
