The Pontifical Mission recently organized an electronic reading competition in both Arabic and English, challenging students to complete 75 stories within a set timeframe. The competition consisted of three rigorous stages, requiring students to earn specific point totals to qualify for the final rounds held at the Pontifical Mission headquarters in Bethlehem.
With 600 students participating from 18 schools across Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Jericho, the competition was fierce. Only 15 winners were selected and honored at the awards ceremony in Bethlehem on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
We are immensely proud to announce that our students have achieved outstanding results:
Hanan Baseer (Grade 6) – Secured 11th Place
Hanan Owaidah (Grade 6) – Secured 13th Place
It is a point of great pride that Frère Secondary School – New Gate was the only school from Jerusalem among the winners.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ms. Minerva Hodali (Arabic Language Teacher) and Ms. Aida Salameh (Coordinator) for their tireless follow-up and constant encouragement. Most importantly, we congratulate Hanan Baseer and Hanan Owaidah on this remarkable distinction. We wish you continued success—mabrouk to you and to our school community for this creative excellence!
