We Play for Peace and to Build a Fraternal World
Lasallian Schools in the Holy Land Celebrate Peace Through Sports and Friendship
On the occasion of the International Lasallian Days of Peace, the administration of the Lasallian Schools in the Holy Land organized a special sports day under the theme “We Play for Peace and to Build a Fraternal World.” The event brought together students from Lasallian schools in an atmosphere of joy, enthusiasm, friendship, and fraternity.
The sports day included friendly competitions in football, basketball, volleyball, and table tennis. Students participated with great enthusiasm, showing their talents, teamwork, fair play, and respect for one another. Although the matches were full of excitement, the main purpose of the event was not simply to win trophies, but to strengthen friendships, build new relationships, and encourage students to experience the spirit of belonging to one Lasallian family.
This special gathering carried an important educational message: sports are not only about winning or losing, but also about learning to live together in peace. Through sports, students learn to respect others, accept differences, work as a team, and celebrate success with humility. These values are at the heart of Lasallian education, which seeks to form young people who believe in peace, solidarity, friendship, and service to others.
One of the most beautiful aspects of the day was the wonderful spirit of fraternity among the students and teachers. The sports fields became places of joy, friendship, and meaningful encounters. Beyond the results of the matches, students had the opportunity to meet new friends, strengthen their relationships, and discover that they all belong to the same Lasallian family, united by common values and a shared educational mission.
At the end of the event, trophies were presented to the participating schools, while medals were awarded to the students in recognition of their participation, efforts, and excellent sportsmanship. The closing ceremony was a joyful moment that celebrated not only sporting achievements but also the friendship and fraternity shared throughout the day.
On this occasion, the administration of Collège des Frères – Jerusalem would like to express its sincere gratitude to Collège des Frères – Bethlehem, represented by its Principal, Ms. Ikhlas Bannoura, for her valuable cooperation and contribution to the success of this event.
Special thanks are also extended to Mr. Ibrahim Al-Atrash, Mr. Elias Al-Bank, Mr. Nakhleh Qanawati, and Ms. Gianna for their dedication, support, and valuable efforts in making this gathering a memorable experience for everyone.
Our sincere appreciation also goes to the physical education teachers of Collège des Frères – Jerusalem, Mr. Qasem Abu Joudeh and Ms. Tesba Alami, for their excellent work in preparing and organizing the activities, accompanying the students, and encouraging them to participate with enthusiasm and a true spirit of fraternity.
The event “We Play for Peace and to Build a Fraternal World” was much more than a sports competition. It was a living expression of the Lasallian mission to educate young people who can build a more peaceful and fraternal society.
In the Holy Land, where peace is deeply needed and strongly desired, such gatherings carry a special meaning. They remind us that peace begins with simple actions: a friendly smile, a helping hand, respect for others, and the willingness to work and play together.
As Lasallian educators, we believe that our schools should not only teach students about peace but also offer them opportunities to experience it in their daily lives.
Let us play for peace, strengthen our friendships, and continue building a fraternal world, one step at a time.
May our Lasallian family in the Holy Land and throughout the world continue to grow in peace, unity, and fraternity. May our schools always remain places of hope, friendship, and love
