A French-Style Evening” at Frères High School – Jerusalem

Frères High School in Jerusalem hosted a remarkable celebration on Thursday evening, November 20, 2025, marking the 150th anniversary of its founding. The event, titled “A French-Style Evening,” was organized by the school in collaboration with its educational team, featuring the French chef Ferdinand de L’Épine and the students of the Hospitality Department.

The evening was distinguished by the presence of prominent figures, including His Excellency Bishop William Shomali, Brother Daoud Kassabri, and Brother Albert Alonzo, in addition to an important diplomatic presence: the French Consul General, the Greek Consul General, and the Irish Consul General. A large number of French friends and supporters of the school also attended, reflecting the historical and cultural significance of the institution and its key role in fostering connections between East and West.

In his speech, the French Consul General expressed his deep appreciation for Frères High School, praising the long-standing relationship that has connected the school to France for over a century and a half, as well as its pioneering role in promoting cultural openness, languages, and human values. He also emphasized the important educational mission the school continues to uphold, describing it as a vital academic center that has had a lasting impact on generations in Jerusalem.

Guests enjoyed an elegant program that combined authentic French flavors—prepared with great skill by the chef and the students—with a refined artistic atmosphere. The talented student Gabi Amer performed the musical piece Cantelina on the cello, earning warm and enthusiastic applause from the audience.

The evening also offered a moment to honor the dedicated efforts within the school and to strengthen ties with its friends and partners, reaffirming the Frères’ commitment to excellence and service.
