College des Frères-Jerusalem Wins Jerusalem Schools Basketball Tournament for Grades Nine and Under

 

The tournament was organized in partnership between the De La Salle Club Jerusalem and the Frères School - Jerusalem.

This event was part of the activities marking the 150th Jubilee of the founding of the Frères School in Jerusalem.

The Sports Committee of the De La Salle Club Jerusalem was on time, and the commendable efforts of its members ensured the success of the Jerusalem Schools Tournament. This success was also due to the efforts of the Director of the Frères School Jerusalem, Brother Daoud Kassabry, and the school staff in organizing and successfully executing the tournament activities.

🏀 Tournament Details and Results

The Jerusalem Schools Tournament for grades nine and under began on the morning of Friday at the Frères School Jerusalem courts and continued until the evening.

The participating teams were:

  • Frères School Jerusalem

  • Terra Sancta Old City

  • Al-Rashidiya School

  • Frères School Beit Hanina

The teams played in a round-robin system (half league), and the results were as follows:

  • Frères Jerusalem defeated Terra Santa Jerusalem

  • Frères Beit Hanina defeated Al-Rashidiya

  • Frères Jerusalem defeated Frères Beit Hanina

  • Al-Rashidiya defeated Terra Santa Jerusalem

  • Frères Beit Hanina defeated Terra Sancta Jerusalem

  • Frères Jerusalem defeated Al-Rashidiya

Final Standings:

  1. Frères Jerusalem

  2. Frères Beit Hanina

  3. Al-Rashidiya

  4. Terra Santa Jerusalem

In the afternoon, all teams, players, administrators, and organizers were invited to lunch.

🎉 Closing Ceremony and Awards

Before the team coronation, the Dabkeh troupe at the Frères School presented a traditional artistic performance, in addition to various artistic and sports shows.

The Director of the Frères School Jerusalem gave a speech, thanking the participating teams, the De La Salle Club Jerusalem, and its committees for their work in organizing the tournament and for the club's role in the local community. He also noted that the Frères School is celebrating its 150th anniversary, and is celebrating this blessed effort and achievement today, while also looking forward to revitalizing the school sports movement in Jerusalem.

Following the speech, the referees and members of the Sports and Social Committee were honored for their efforts.

The Frères School presented commemorative shields and special 150th Jubilee medals to the participating schools.

The Director of the Frères School, in the presence of the De La Salle Club administrators, the Sports Committee, and officials from the participating schools, presented trophies to the first-place team (Frères Jerusalem) and the second-place team (Frères Beit Hanina), in addition to gold, silver, and bronze medals for all players of the participating teams.

We always hope and strive with diligence and hard work that such tournaments achieve their goals in continuing to revive school sports and encouraging the younger generation and youth of both genders to engage in sports, as it is an essential element in developing physical and mental skills.
