American Program Students Celebrate Thanksgiving in the Hospitality Department
The American curriculum students in grades 9 and 10 celebrated Thanksgiving, which falls at the end of November and is considered one of the most important holidays in American culture. It is a special occasion when families and friends gather around one table in an atmosphere of warmth and gratitude. The origins of Thanksgiving go back to the early settlers who wished to thank God for the abundance of the harvest and for surviving a difficult year. Over time, it became a national holiday that expresses values of thankfulness, sharing, solidarity, and helping those in need. Today, the celebration is often marked by acts of charity and volunteering, and by preparing a traditional meal in which roast turkey is the main dish on the table.
On this occasion, the Hospitality Department, led by Chef Nabil Aho, prepared the official dish of this holiday, the traditional American-style roasted turkey. He was assisted by the 11th grade hospitality students under the supervision of Mr. Fadi Deeb, who demonstrated their skills in cooking, food presentation, and teamwork.
The English language coordinator Ms. Flavia Kamel organized the event and prepared its program, which included various activities related to the culture and meaning of Thanksgiving. At the beginning of the celebration, Mr. Issa Deeb gave a short speech about the holiday, highlighting its message of gratitude and giving, and he thanked everyone for their efforts and their excellent work in making the event a success.
Teachers, staff members, and students all took part in the celebration, which was held in a joyful and cooperative atmosphere that reflected the true spirit of Thanksgiving and the values of appreciation, respect, and community that the school seeks to instill in its students.
